2016 Tignanello, Antinori, Tuscany, Italy

The 2016 Tignanello by Antinori is deep, rich, dark and fragrant on the nose, with notes of berry fruit, spice, oak and summer flowers. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, black fruit from the Cabernets dominates the attack at present, but with silky Sangiovese making its presence felt, too. Very impressive and almost impenetrable at this youthful stage, this has great fruit, depth, complexity, acidity and fine yet grippy tannins. This looks like it's going to be a great Tignanello, but it will need more time than most vintages to show its best.
