Tuesday, November 3: An Afternoon with Kinou Cazes Hachemian

We're beginning our anniversary celebrations with a special guest: Kinou Cazes Hachemian of the Cazes family, whose Bordeaux heritage is connected to some of the region's most distinguished estates.

Join us from 4:30 to 6:30 pm to discover wines from the family's celebrated properties: Château Lynch-Bages, Château Ormes de Pez, and Château Haut-Batailley.

As you taste, discover the stories behind the wines and the family's enduring connection to Bordeaux. It's a chance to enjoy three distinguished bottles in the company of someone who brings them to life.

Wednesday–Saturday, November 4–7: Discover the Art of Blind Tasting

How well do you know what's in your glass?

From Wednesday through Saturday, our team will guide you through the art of blind tasting, pouring a different wine each afternoon from a lineup of five remarkable bottles.

Without the label to guide you, you'll discover how much a wine can reveal through its aromas, structure, texture, and character. Our team will share practical techniques for interpreting these clues, recognizing regional styles, and understanding what makes each bottle distinctive.

Can you recognize a celebrated Bordeaux by its structure alone? Distinguish a Grand Cru Burgundy from the wines of another great region? Identify the character of a benchmark Chilean wine?

Each session offers a fresh challenge and a new perspective on some of the world's most compelling wines. No previous blind-tasting experience is necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to trust your palate.

And with a different wine featured each day, there's every reason to return, bring another friend, and discover something new together.

Join us Wednesday, November 4, through Saturday, November 7, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm for complimentary blind tastings in our store at 888 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20006. Each afternoon, we'll reveal a different wine from our five-bottle selection. Tastings are offered while supplies last.

Five Wines. Five Stories Worth Discovering.

Each wine in our blind-tasting lineup has a story that extends beyond the glass, from historic European vineyards to pioneering estates that have helped shape the modern fine-wine world.

2015 Château Pontet-Canet, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France

A landmark Pauillac estate, Château Pontet-Canet has helped redefine the possibilities of Bordeaux through its pioneering commitment to biodynamic viticulture. The 2005 vintage, celebrated for its depth and structure, offers an opportunity to explore the precision and character that have made this property so distinctive.

2009 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Burgundy, France

Enclosed by historic stone walls and cultivated since the Middle Ages, Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy's most storied vineyards. Its heritage is inseparable from the Cistercian monks who helped establish its reputation. This celebrated Grand Cru offers an opportunity to explore the individuality of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy's most historic sites.

2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes, Domaine de la Janasse, Southern Rhône, France

Châteauneuf-du-Pape occupies an important place in French wine history, becoming one of the appellations recognized under France's original AOC system in 1936. At Domaine de la Janasse, old vines and thoughtful blending create wines of depth, complexity, and unmistakable character.

2016 Seña, Aconcagua Valley, Chile

Created through a pioneering partnership between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, Seña helped establish a new benchmark for Chilean fine wine. Combining a Bordeaux-inspired approach with the distinctive character of its Chilean origins, it showcases the elegance, structure, and aging potential of the Aconcagua Valley.

2017 Barolo Monprivato, Giuseppe Mascarello & Figlio, Piedmont, Italy

Barolo is one of the great expressions of Nebbiolo, prized for its structure, aromatic complexity, and remarkable capacity to evolve with age. Monprivato, a revered vineyard site in Castiglione Falletto, is particularly admired for its finesse and individuality. This bottle offers an opportunity to explore one of Piedmont's most distinguished expressions of the variety.
