Exceptional Casks Celebrating Our US Launch
Berry Bros. & Rudd is the oldest independent bottler of spirits in the world. Our enduring success is born from a simple principle that underpins all our work – will this be delicious?
We can confirm, with barrels full of British understatement, that the two whiskies we’ve bottled to celebrate the launch of our US business are delicious. They also perfectly demonstrate what it is to be an independent bottler. We source what we want, and bottle when we want – keeping us completely focused on limited production of the highest quality. It’s a strategy that requires skill and patience but those are our strengths, and we apply them just as much to our Berry’s Own Selection, as these more rarified single cask offerings.
‘Washington, D.C. Edition’
These whiskies are quite probably the oldest, finest, and rarest we’ve bottled to date. They both tell their own fascinating stories, but they also mark an exciting new chapter in ours, so we’ve proudly marked the labels ‘Washington, D.C. Edition’.
We think they belong as a pair because the styles complement one another and, let’s face it, one dram is never enough when it’s this good!
1975 Teaninich, #14797, 46 Yr-Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (49.1%)
$1,595.00
Teaninich is one of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries and scotch has been made here since 1817. By the mid-1970s, Teaninich was a backbone of insignificant and unfashionable little blends like Johnnie Walker... The spirit of this era was robust, designed to add blending backbone, but that role gave no commercial incentive to lay down casks for long maturation. The sad irony is that Teaninich of this era is a revelation after forty years in barrel, but we can never go back. The distillery has been modernized many times, so our single, ex-bourbon, hogshead is one of the painfully few survivors from a bygone era. Just 181 bottles were filled.
1967 ‘Secret Speyside’, 51-Year-Old, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (40.2%)
$1,995.00
Obviously, we can’t tell you anything about this… other than it really is one of the last remaining casks from this (mystery) distillery’s golden post-war age. It’s a Speyside time capsule and one we have owned, patiently waiting for the right moment to bottle, for a generation. You should buy a bottle because it’s an extraordinary whisky, a commemorative bottling, and the final one of its kind. It’s just an added bonus that, compared with any other 50-year-old Speyside, it’s a steal! Just 156 bottles were filled.
You can only buy these whiskies via our US business, and the entire production has been bottled and offered for sale. Please follow the links above to purchase. Cheers!
