2022 Chorey-lès-Beaune, Les Bons Ores, Domaine Guyon, Burgundy
Description
This remains the most impressive representation of a terroir that is usually presumed to produce appealing but essentially quite simple wines, but is elevated by Jean-Pierre’s methods, which would normally be considered to be too labour-intensive at this level. Nearly all the vines here are over 100 years old and whilst there is Chorey’s trademark dark cherry fruit, this is composed and expressive, with a silky essence that caresses as well as satisfying. The finish is lifted and impressively long.

Critics reviews
Pretty and even more floral-infused aromas include those of black cherry, plum, violet and a whiff of rose petal. The rich, fleshy and generously proportioned flavors coat the palate with dry extract while exhibiting reasonably good depth and persistence on the lightly rustic finale.
Drink 2026+
It is expensive for Chorey, although there is a lot of quality for this less-elevated appellation. Dark-fruit notes, fresh and lively palate with a briary character. There is enough concentration, but it still seems pricey.
