2021 Riesling, Smaragd, Wachstum Bodenstein, Prager, Wachau, Austria

Just as the Wachstum Bodenstein was the most elegant of the Prager Grüner Veltliners, it is also the most elegant of their Rieslings. The uplifting, stone-pebble aroma is brimming with notes of fresh lemon and grapefruit, with hints of mango skin and sweet white peach behind.

The palate is just so gloriously mineral and fresh yet has a richness and weight to it that surprises, given its initially apparent lightness of style. The mouthfeel is ripe and textured with a peach kernel freshness mixing with a touch of tart gooseberry, adding complexity. 

But then the finish… it is rounded, long, generous, salivating and rewarding, all culminating in a twist of grapefruit refreshment. This is all elegance and sophistication and is simply stunning.
