2021 Catena Zapata, Catena Alta, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina

Catena are the First Family of Argentinean winemaking. The winery’s history goes back to 1902, when Nicola Catena first planted vines; two generations later, his grandson Nicolás Zapata pioneered Argentinean fine wine, allying Old World sensibilities to Mendoza’s unique climate and, of course, the Malbec grape. This is a classic: silky, rich flavours of blackcurrant, chocolate and vanilla combine with pepper and spice from its 16 months in oak.
