2020 Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, Burgundy

This comes from a parcel in Champ Franc, at the eastern end of Gevrey within the alluvial fan of the Combe de Lavaux. These fine, well-drained gravel soils suit Sébastien’s gentle touch, producing a wonderfully fine and sophisticated Gevrey – without losing the classic dark-cherry fruit and subtle twist of rusticity on the finish. There’s 40% new oak. Drink 2024-2032.
