2019 Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, Burgundy

This new parcel is in the lieu-dit of Champs Franc; it’s at the eastern end of Gevrey, on the end of the alluvial fan. Soils are deep clay with gravel. The wine sees 50% new oak. It’s slightly lighter and more delicate than the Nuits, with supple tannins, blue fruits and a mouth-watering finish with a little rusticity. Drink 2022-2028.
