2018 Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Platières, Domaine Guyon, Burgundy

These old vines – between 80 and 90 years old – are in La Platière, Roncevie and Le Fourneau, to the east of the main road. Jean-Pierre’s ability to coax such expression from these lower vineyards is astonishing. There’s lots of black fruit and spice, as well as the wine’s trademark morello cherry. Drink 2021-2027.
