2017 Chinon, L'Huisserie, Domaine Philippe Alliet, Loire

 Less bright and more autumnal than 2018, offering forest aromas and ripe wild berry. On the palate, lots of ripe plum and blackberry, and on the finish, stony, even a little bloody, with a touch of campfire. Beautifully complex and textured. There’s a good, lean rustic quality to this. Wonderful value for such an accomplished wine. Aged one year in older barrique, then in cement for six months.
