2017 Chinon, Coteau de Noiré, Philippe Alliet, Loire

Coteau de Noire is one of Alliet’s top vineyard sites, a steep parcel of limestone and clay. Aged one year in mix of old and new 500-liter barrels. You can feel the oak a bit on the nose, plus a touch of leather and spiced plum. Chewy tannins on the palate accompany dark fruit (plum and black cherry) and a bit of olive. Juicy, generous finish.
