2017 Barolo, Rocche dell'Annunziata, Trediberri, Piedmont, Italy

On this “Grand Cru” site, Nicola’s vines sit between Voerzio and Bartolo Mascarello. This was the earliest harvest in memory; fermentation was shorter, and the wine saw just 18 months in Garbellotto botti before returning to cement. Wildflowers, blood orange and herbs lead into a detailed palate, initially sweet-scented but with pithy, mineral focus and fine, chewy tannins. Drink 2025-2040.
