Verduno’s finest site, Monvigliero is large (25 hectares); the estate has four plots of vines – nearly 50 years old and totalling 1.4 hectares – right in the vineyard’s sweet spot. The soils are white, steep and south facing; the wines are startlingly fresh. Yet the wine is profound, a woven basket of cherry and pepper spice, sealed with talc-like tannins. Drink 2025-2040.
