From Charmes proper
A whiff of wood toast combines with notes of airy and fresh red berries, earth, humus, and forest floor. The full-bodied and velvet-textured flavours possess an excellent richness and very good if not remarkable, depth and length in the well-balanced and solidly structured finale.
Drink from 2027 onward
The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin is a soft-open knit wine with a mid-weight structure and good overall persistence. This is the only wine in the range I tasted from tank. Perhaps for that reason, the Charmes is a bit reticent. It will be interesting to see if the wine gains more volume. The decision to move this wine into tank and bottle it early, suggests it may not have the depth of the best wines in the range.
