Description

Like the Champ Gain there is trace of reduction that is just enough to mask the detail of the nose. By contrast there is good freshness and excellent complexity to the rich, round and solidly concentrated flavors that possess a taut muscularity before concluding in a noticeably dry, clean and impressively persistent finish. This will need a few years in bottle to further add more depth, but the underlying material appears to be up to the task.

The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Petit Clos a lieu-dit within Morgeot) was more backward on the nose when I tasted it at the domaine, touches of white flower infusing the citrus fruit that need encouragement, but appear well defined. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with touches of bitter lemon and dried quince, impressive weight towards the finish and a long sustain. This is an excellent Chassagne from Caroline L'Estime.
