2008 Riesling, Brand, Grand Cru, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, Alsace

This wine is made from the same piece of vineyard that produces their Vielles Vignes Brand 2007. However, they didn't want to call them VV in 2008 because it is a much drier style of wine. 

These vines are located on the Schneckeslbourg part of the Brand, the one that has some marl and limestone deep under the granite rock. Due to the prevalence of noble rot in this site, there are 10 grams of residual sugar but it's balanced by tartaric acid expressed both by fresh lemon and tart yellow plum, which keeps the whole thing tasting dry.
