Our team has surpassed themselves in selecting this cask—it’s one of my all-time favourites. The demerara rum cask finish has given a stunning, refined nose with tropical fruits. Gentle peat smoke reminiscent of a burnt-out bonfire lingers with seaweed and crisped brown sugar notes. To taste, it’s rich with a mouth-coating oiliness and hints of coastal brine—a hallmark of Glen Scotia. The fruit nods to barbecued pineapple, yellow apple, and mango. Creamy vanilla and coconut shavings segue into dried fruits and a touch of peppery spice. All the elements are so well balanced that this dram will have widespread appeal, even for those not usually drawn to peated whisky.
