Description
This vineyard borders Vosne-Romanée. Jean-Pierre’s 0.23 hectares of vines are 70 years old, giving a tiny, millerandé crop. The perfume is floral, unusual for a Nuits – certainly due to its proximity to Vosne. Another regular tasting note is white pepper. The wine’s sense of clarity is most impressive. This is a composed and engaging example at this level. Drink 2024-2032.

Here too there is just enough wood present to merit pointing out framing the earthier and more sauvage-inflected nose of red cherry and dark raspberry. There is fine volume to the supple, round reasonably concentrated flavors that culminate in a moderately rustic, tangy and warm finish where a touch of bitter chocolate can be found. It’s hard to say if this somewhat awkward effort will more completely come together or not.

More purple than black in colour, and retaining a certain freshness at the finish. Starts very well in red fruit then adds a blacker raspberry aspect followed by the white pepper. Intriguing and rather delicious. Even finishes in floral style, with a minor key of liquorice.
