Description
Silver medal winner at the 2016 Decanter World Wine Awards
This is sourced from seven plots, including 25 percent Premier Cru fruit from Gruenchers and Baudes. Medium deep, bright purple with a marvellously sensual aroma, this is very succulent in the mouth with the stems (65 percent) adding a lively touch to the finish, and a little strawberry in the background.
The domaine has developed its white wine holdings, with four new cuvées this year, arising out of Boisset’s purchase of Vincent Girardin’s business. Girardin had farming arrangements in Puligny- Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain Premier Cru, Bienvenues-Bâtard- Montrachet Grand Cru and a tiny holding of Chevalier-Montrachet: Monsieur Boisset has now bought these vineyards. As well as these excellent whites, Pierre Vincent considers 2014 to be one of his best red wine vintages, with something in common with 2006 and 2010.

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny comes from plots in les Argillières, Veroilles, Condemennes, Chardannes where around 20% of the blend is from the 1ers Les Baudes and Les Gruenchers).
A more deeply pitched but still highly floral nose presents notes of violet, black cherry, spice and a hint of earth. The medium-bodied flavors possess a velvety, even caressing mouth feel with outstanding depth and length for a villages level Chambolle. This is excellent and worth considering. Drink: 2021

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes two new vineyards compared to last year from Les Gruenchers and les Fremiets. It has an attractive bouquet, nicely detailed with wilted rose petals infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is fresh and attractive with crisp, red cherry and strawberry fruit, the 40% new oak a little conspicuous towards the finish, though I think that will be assimilated with 2-3 years in bottle.
