Description
Ch. Ormes de Pez was a stand-out wine in 2010, with a generous, vivid fruit and glossy mouthfeel perfectly balanced alongside the classic St Estephe character and structure. It is starting to drink well now, but will be an excellent addition to your cellar for very pleasurable drinking over the coming years.

Throw that script out of the window with this wine though, it is glossy and glamorous but with a classic St Estèphe style. The 2010 Chateau Ormes-de-Pez is vibrant, with lovely notes of plum, violet and cherry preserves laced with chalky cut that stretches out the finish. Very, very solid.

A fleshy, attractive, up-front style of wine with plenty of sweet cherry and black currant fruit along with a hint of licorice, this wine is pure, medium-bodied and very fresh, with surprisingly low acidity for a 2010. Drink it over the next decade.
This dense purple-colored 2010 exhibits dark raspberry and blueberry fruit notes, less power and structure than its neighbor De Pez, but more finesse, elegance and fruit forwardness. This impressively endowed effort should drink nicely for 10-15 years.

This was in a carafe for at least five hours before tasting, and is a good reminder that you should not be nervous to leave even non-classified 2010s in contact with oxygen - the architecture can easily hold the fruit. Pretty spicy overall, full of tannic grip, dark and plush plum and greengage fruits, sage, cinnamon and crayon. Delicious, such a great value wine, one of the 'open now' wines of the tasting, exactly what you hope for when heading towards this price point, and so rarely get.

The 2010 Château Ormes De Pez is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon yet includes 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, all of which was raised in 47% new barrels. It has ripe black cherries, darker chocolate, and spicy notes as well as medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. I like its overall balance, and it has ripe yet still present tannins, as well as a beautifully layered mouthfeel, all making for a sumptuous Saint-Estèphe that offers loads of pleasure today yet has another 10-15 years of prime drinking ahead of it.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Ormes de Pez slips sensuously from the glass with seductive blackberry pie, Black Forest cake and kirsch scents plus nuances of candied violets, hoisin, dark chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, rich and plush in the mouth, it has a fantastic line of freshness lifting all the decadent fruit to a long, energy-sparked finish.

The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, a splash of balsamic with a clean and precise, if not overlong finish.
