The 2024 Grüner Veltliner Ried Achleiten Smaragd comes from two plots above the Achleiten Tor, on 12 to 15 terraces. The densely planted vines are now about 70 years old. The nose is unusually juicy and vivid, with ripe red-green apple that is fresh and appetising. On the palate, it is wonderfully smooth, ripe, bright, fresh, sinuous and full of energy. The 2024 has exquisite balance and drive alongside longevity.

Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's most famous grape variety. It is indigenous to Austria and is grown extensively in every Austrian wine region with the exception of Steiermark. It constitutes 36% of all vineyard plantings with the best wines coming from the north-east of the country, particularly regions such as the Wachau, Kamptal and Kremstal which border the Danube river.
